Trauma Recovery e-Program

Trauma, whether singular or accumulative, can have a devastating impact on the body, mind and sense of safety. It can transform the way an individual perceives themselves, relates to others, and participates in various life domains. Many individuals who experience trauma feel "stuck" and have difficulty functioning effectively. For some, it becomes challenging to truly cultivate a sense of joy and pleasure in life.

Dr. Todd will be offering "Trauma Recovery," an eight-week psychoeducational e-program designed to help guide you through the process of healing from trauma. This program consists of bite-sized weekly videos you can watch from the comfort of your own home, at a time that is convenient to you. Each video will provide you with a deeper understanding of the way trauma impacts the mind, brain, and body. You will learn how trauma contributes to chronic emotional distress, maladaptive behaviour, negative self-appraisals, and difficulty feeling connected in meaningful relationships. This program is designed to educate you on broad concepts that are likely relevant to you if you’ve experienced trauma. With accumulating knowledge about trauma, you can begin to develop a deeper awareness, understanding, and appreciation for how trauma has impacted you, the way you think about your past, and what it means for you moving forward. Most importantly, you will learn concrete strategies to help you establish a greater sense of safety in your body and the world, calm the nervous system, adjust maladaptive perceptions of the self and others, and begin to integrate meaningful, joyful, and pleasurable experiences into your present life.

In addition to weekly videos, you will have access to written resources, worksheets, and monitoring forms that help you enhance self-awareness, synthesize information, and track your progress.

Why an e-Program?

  • Dr. Todd understands that not everyone has access to psychological services.

  • Waitlists are often long

  • Insurance coverage can be limited

  • Ongoing therapy may be financially unrealistic

  • Some individuals are unable to attend therapy during business hours due to childcare, shift work, etc.

  • Some individuals are simply not yet in a place to fully engage in therapy

  • Some individuals benefit from additional resources to supplement therapy in-between sessions

What makes this program different from other self-help resources?

You may have already turned to Google to help you understand your experience and learn to cope. However, the world of Google can be incredibly overwhelming to navigate especially when you are feeling vulnerable. Dr. Todd eliminates the need for you to sift through the infinite amount of information by synthesizing research-based and peer-reviewed information in an organized, relevant, and user-friendly manner so that you can focus all of your efforts on healing.

What makes this program different from therapy?

This program is not a replacement for therapy. Therapy involves building a therapeutic relationship with a professional who is trained to help you conceptualize your unique experiences and guide treatment based on the presenting issues you face. Therapy can be a powerful process and is a service Dr. Todd recommends for those who struggle with traumatic stress. However, that does not mean you cannot embark on your own self-directed healing process, make meaning out of your experiences, and achieve a sense of peace. In fact, moving through your own process of healing can be empowering and promote personal growth, resilience, and efficacy. With this e-program, you can flow through the material at your own pace and at a time that is convenient for you. You can choose to follow the recommended sequence of modules, or select topics that feel most relevant to you in the moment. You can revisit each module at any time to refresh your mind to concepts covered. Ultimately, you have complete control over how and when you move through the program. You may conceptualize this program as a travel guide, guiding you along your healing path. In addition, this program is cost-effective, for less than the cost of two therapy sessions with Dr. Todd, you receive 8 weeks worth of recorded material supplemented by interactive worksheets that help you integrate and apply concepts learned and monitor your own progress.
