Individual Therapy
Individual therapy is a collaborative process that helps individuals understand and conceptualize problematic patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving. With increased insight, individuals can begin to learn ways to develop healthier, more adaptive patterns that align more closely with their values and personal goals. Therapy not only aims to reduce symptoms or maladaptive patterns that negatively impact functioning, but it also explores ways in which individuals can cultivate a greater sense of security, satisfaction, joy, and pleasure in life.

Dr. Todd specializes in the treatment of trauma and treatment for first responders. Sessions incorporate psychoeducation to help individuals develop a clearer understanding of the neurobiological impact of trauma, how their body responds to cues related to their trauma, and how to rewire the brain to respond in more effective, adaptive, and less distressing ways. Dr. Todd integrates top down approaches such as Cognitive Processing Therapy to address the maladaptive perceptions that often develop as a result of trauma, and bottom-up strategies that address somatic re-experiencing of trauma (essentially to help reduce those uncomfortable physical sensations that occur in response to stress or trauma reminders).

In addition to the treatment of trauma, Dr. Todd also provides individual therapy services for issues including but not limited to: anxiety, workplace stress and conflict, emotional distress and regulation difficulties, mood disorders, grief and loss, anger management, relationship issues, substance abuse, personal growth (self-esteem, social skills, lifestyle changes).

Dr. Todd is an approved services provider for WSIB, Blue Cross, and Veterans Affairs. Services are covered by most extended health insurance plans.
